Restoration underway on the Ear of Corn tower!
The demolition of the Seneca Foods building adjacent to Graham Park was completed earlier this spring. On the same site, renovations to Olmsted County’s revered Ear of Corn tower began in May and are nearly complete. In addition to painting it, we are making minor structural changes that will preserve the life and integrity of the tower.
We continue to work diligently on maintenance and updates to the Graham Arenas. Recent projects have included upgraded locker rooms in Graham 1 and 3 along with the restrooms in Graham 3.
The Works Progress Administration (WPA) building renovations are complete. This building's original interior was finished with lumber from a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp near Sleepy Eye, in Southwestern Minnesota, that closed in 1938. During our renovation, we managed to maintain most of the original floor, crown molding, wainscoting, windows, and all the original wood on the ceiling. This building is great for small meetings and as a bridal suite for weddings.
