Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)

Zero Tolerance Policy

The Olmsted County Adult Detention Center and Work Release Facility have a zero-tolerance policy regarding sexual abuse and harassment. If you are aware of any detainee that is experiencing or has experienced sexual abuse or harassment, please use any of the following methods to report it:

  • Contact the chief deputy during business hours at 507-328-6837.
  • Contact the on-duty supervisor at any time at 507-328-6790.
  • Contact law enforcement dispatch at any time at 507-328-6800.
  • Contact Olmsted County Victim Services crisis line any time at 507-289-0636.
  • Contact Olmsted County Sheriff's Office Investigations Lieutenant at 507-328-6749.

Should a criminal investigation of a sexual abuse or sexual harassment complaint be required, the Olmsted County ADC will notify the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Investigations unit or the Rochester Police Department.

Either entity will ensure all evidence is preserved, all suspects are afforded their rights, interviews are conducted, and a victim advocate from Victim Services is available for the victim.
