Olmsted Waste-to-Energy Facility (OWEF) Open House

Tour overview
- Learn how the Olmsted Waste-to-Energy Facility uses garbage to produce energy for buildings on the Olmsted County District Energy System!
- Visitors will be taken on a guided walking tour through multiple levels of the OWEF. Stair-climbing is involved; however, an elevator is available as needed.
- Casual attire is recommended. Sturdy shoes (no flip flops) are required.
- While on the tour, you will learn about Olmsted County's Integrated Solid Waste Management System which includes:
- Recycling Center Plus.
- Hazardous Waste Facility.
- Yard Waste Compost Site.
- Waste-to-Energy Facility.
- Kalmar Landfill.
- This tour is appropriate for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- New this year - local waste haulers will have garbage/recycling trucks parked on display just outside the facility's entrance.
The OWEF is located down the street from the Recycling Center Plus at 301 Energy Parkway NE, Rochester, MN.
