Kids use sidewalk chalk? Get it tested for lead this January!
Local daycare providers, families, and community members are invited to a free event to test chalk for lead at 2100 Campus Drive SE in Rochester. Hosted by Olmsted County Public Health Services (OCPHS) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), the event aims to raise awareness about lead exposure and provide quick, on-site testing.
Event Details:
- January 12 or 16 (weather backup)
- 4 to 7 p.m.
- Cascade and Whitewater Rooms, 2100 Campus Dr. SE in Rochester
Attendees can bring chalk samples to be tested for lead and receive results in about 20 seconds. MDH staff will be on-site to assist and may collect some samples for further testing. If available, participants are encouraged to bring the manufacturer’s box for their chalk, though it’s not required.
Join OCPHS and MDH to learn more about lead exposure, get your chalk tested, and connect with local resources working to keep our community safe.
