Ear of Corn Water Tower wins People’s Choice Award by Tnemec Company

The Ear of Corn Water Tower in Rochester, Minnesota is gaining national attention. The water tower, along with hundreds of other water towers in the United States and Canada, was nominated for the People’s Choice Award in the Tnemec Company’s Water Tank of the Year contest.

The story of the Ear of Corn Water Tower, and its nomination, spread across social media for several weeks. After a friendly water tower battle, Olmsted County’s a-maize-ing tank came out victorious with more than 5,000 votes!

The beloved landmark will be featured in a 2022 calendar by the Tnemec Company, along with 11 other water towers.

On Friday, October 22, 2021, the Tnemec Company announced that the Tank of the Year award went to another Minnesota water tower in Moorhead. The overall winner was chosen by a group of water tower enthusiasts.
