Falls prevention and emergency preparedness workshop on April 21, 2026
Olmsted and Goodhue County residents ages 55 and older are invited to a free Falls Prevention and Emergency Preparedness Workshop on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. This collaborative workshop is designed to help older adults stay safe and confident in their everyday routines. They will learn practical strategies for daily living, along with guidance on how to plan ahead and respond effectively in emergency situations.
Falls are the leading cause of accidental death in our region, including both Olmsted and Goodhue counties. Education and prevention efforts are crucial for maintaining health and independence among older adults.
The event is being held by Olmsted and Goodhue Counties, Age-Friendly Pine Island, and Southeastern Minnesota Area Agency on Aging (SEMAA). It will take place at the Pine Island Senior Center, located at 109 3rd St SW in Pine Island. This workshop will feature two key focus areas:
Fall prevention and in‑home safety
- Explore fall prevention resources available in Olmsted County.
- Learn about in‑home safety assessments.
- Get practical tips for creating a safer home environment.
Emergency preparedness
- Personal emergency planning tools and guidance.
- How to prepare for natural disasters.
- Information tailored to the needs of older adults.

The workshop is open to all residents 55+. No registration is required.
