Early voting underway in Olmsted County for the August 11 primary election

Rochester City Hall opens as an additional early voting location beginning August 4

An additional early voting location for the August 11, 2026, primary election will open Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Rochester City Hall, providing all Olmsted County voters with another convenient option to cast their ballot before Election Day. 

Eligible voters may vote in person at:

Early voting schedule 

  • Tuesday, August 4 – Monday, August 10, 2026 
  • Monday–Friday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
  • Saturday, August 8: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. 

Free parking is available at the bagged parking meters located directly in front of City Hall, as shown in the accompanying map. 

Voting in Olmsted County 

Early voting in Olmsted County began July 24, 2026 at the Olmsted County Elections Office, where all Olmsted County voters can continue to cast their ballot in person through August 10.

Absentee by mail 

Voters who are unable to vote in person also have the option to vote absentee by mail. Mail absentee voters must have a witness when completing their ballot. A witness may be a U.S. citizen who is at least 18 years old, a notary public, or a person authorized to administer oaths. 

When applying for an absentee ballot, voters may also choose to become a Permanent Absentee Voter, allowing them to automatically receive an absentee ballot for future elections. 

Absentee in person 

Completed absentee ballots may be returned by mail or delivered in person to the Olmsted County Elections Office. Ballots must be received by 5 p.m. if returned in person or by 8 p.m. if returned by mail on Election Day to be counted. 

Whether voting early at Rochester City Hall, the Olmsted County Elections Office, or by absentee ballot, voters are encouraged to make a plan to vote before the August 11 primary election.
