Olmsted County honors veterans with “Operation Green Light”
October 31, 2025
Olmsted County is proud to once again participate in Operation Green Light, shining a beacon of hope and support for veterans. This is the fifth anniversary of Operation Green Light, a veterans appreciation event organized by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO). NACo and NACVSO invite you to show support for veterans by putting out a green light from November 4-11, 2025.
The Olmsted County government organization is participating in Operation Green Light by lighting the Government Center rotunda lights and exterior Olmsted County government campus building lights green from November 4 – 11, 2025.
"Lighting up our buildings in green is a simple yet powerful way to show our veterans that they are seen, appreciated, and supported," said Olmsted County Veteran Services Manager Tiffany Canfield. "It's a reminder to our community of the sacrifices veterans have made and an opportunity for us all to express our gratitude."
Olmsted County Veteran Services is dedicated to assisting veterans, their dependents, and survivors in securing benefits, including federal and state benefits, transportation services, and support for mental health and chemical dependency.
“Our office works to ensure veterans and their families receive the support and benefits they deserve," said Canfield. "We are here to guide them through the process, provide resources, and stand by them every step of the way." Watch this short video message below to learn more about how our office supports veterans and their families.

  How you can show support
There are many ways residents can show their support for veterans in our community:
- Express gratitude – A simple "thank you for your service" can go a long way in showing veterans that their sacrifices are valued.
- Attend Veterans Day events – Veterans Day Breakfast | No registration necessary for veterans | November 11, 2025 – 8 to 11:30 a.m. | Rochester International Event Center | 7333 Airport View Drive SW
- Volunteer for veterans – Many organizations welcome volunteers such as veterans hospitals, VA clinics, and military support groups. Consider helping at these institutions or participating in community service projects dedicated to veterans.
- Add a green light to your house – Whether outside for neighbors to see or inside to spark conversation, displaying a green light shows that you support and appreciate our veterans.
