Mental Health Awareness Month: Focus on Crisis Response Team
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind our community that support is available. Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
In Olmsted County, one of the key frontline supports is the Crisis Response Team. The team is comprised of social workers, peer recovery specialists, mental health practitioners, and qualified mental health professionals.
This team provides 24/7 support for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises, offering in-person response, de-escalation, and connection to ongoing resources.
When to call the Crisis Response Team
It is appropriate to seek help from the Olmsted County Crisis Response Team for the following situations:
- Mental health episode.
- Suicidal thoughts.
- Youth in crisis.
- Substance use concerns.
- Concerning behaviors/impaired functioning.
- Barriers to services and supports.
