Online check-in system reminder for driver’s license services and REAL ID deadline extension

  • News
  • May 3, 2021

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has extended the REAL ID enforcement date by 19 months – moving the deadline from October 1, 2021 to May 3, 2023.

DHS states that beginning May 3, 2023, “every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or another TSA-acceptable form of identification at airport security checkpoints for domestic air travel.”

Process for driver’s license services in Olmsted County

If you have a change to your name, address, signature, or card number, or if you require a REAL ID or enhanced ID, these driver’s license applications still need to be processed in person. The Olmsted County Property Records and Licensing department is able to assist with these requests at the Government Center at 151 4th Street SE in Rochester; however, to make an appointment, use the Olmsted County Online Check-in System. The Online Check-in System opens for appointments each business day at 7:45 a.m.
