Local redistricting engagement efforts continue in Olmsted County and the City of Rochester

From December 14, 2021 to January 22, 2022, Olmsted County and the City of Rochester held 11 virtual redistricting listening sessions. These were opportunities for residents to share valuable information on what matters to them before new city ward and county commissioner district maps are drawn. Video recordings of each listening session are available on the City of Rochester redistricting website under Events.

On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners signed an agreement to have Rochester Area Economic Development, Inc. (RAEDI) serve as the county’s redevelopment consultant with respect to the Seneca Property owned by the county.

RAEDI will partner with the county to develop and execute a Statement of Interest (SOI) process to solicit development proposals and evaluate the highest and best use, with RAEDI providing expertise and capacity to the county.

The preliminary recommendations span 10 focus areas and will be shared with community groups for input beginning in February 2022 and then refined over the next several months before final recommendations are presented to the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners later in 2022.

Olmsted County Public Health Services will be holding a clinic for individuals to receive their COVID Pfizer booster on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Only Pfizer boosters will be administered at this clinic and you must register in advance.

Olmsted County Public Health Services supports City of Rochester mask mandate

On Saturday, January 15, 2022, Rochester Mayor Kim Norton signed a Declaration of Local Emergency requiring masks to be worn in all indoor areas in Rochester, regardless of an individual's vaccination status.

The mandate begins at 6 a.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2022, and will be in effect until 11:59 p.m. on February 7, 2022, unless rescinded sooner. The Rochester City Council voted in favor of the plan on January 16.

Olmsted County, Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota, and the Rochester Salvation Army have developed an isolation plan for residents who are homeless, seeking shelter, and have tested positive for COVID-19. This plan is effective immediately.
