The Rochester-Olmsted Council of Governments (ROCOG) has released a draft of the 2022-2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for a 30-day public comment period. The TIP is a multi-year program of federally funded transportation improvements in the Rochester-Olmsted County region.

The Rochester-Olmsted Council of Governments (ROCOG) was established in November 1971 to provide comprehensive planning services to member local government units. It was organized to comply with the Federal Aid Highway Act, which requires that all urbanized areas with a population of more than 50,000 have an organization designated by the Governor of the state that is responsible for implementation and maintenance of a regional transportation planning program.

New financial assistance program for private well treatment or new private well construction

The Olmsted, Fillmore, Goodhue, Root River, and Wabasha Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) and Winona County collaborated and formed a new “Tap In” initiative with goals to improve drinking water throughout Southeastern Minnesota. Participating counties and SWCDs received funding through the MN Department of Health Clean Water Fund to assist private well owners with nitrate contamination problems.
