Marriage Officiant

Legislative change effective July 1, 2025 will require anyone performing a marriage to register with a county office.

To perform a wedding ceremony in Minnesota, you must register with a Minnesota county prior to the ceremony.  No credentials are required to register with the county.  (M.S. 517.04)

Walk-ins are welcome, or appointments can be made at: Olmsted County Online Check-in System

Please note:

Credentials of Ordination can be filed by mail or in person. Credentials of Ordination must be filed in at least one Minnesota county in order to perform a legal marriage ceremony in this state.

Becoming a marriage officiant:

Gather your information

Complete and sign the Filing Credentials of Ordination form.

Submit the documents

Acceptable forms of payment are credit card, personal check, money order or cashier's check. We accept credit cards. There is a 2.15% convenience fee for all credit card payments.
