Miscellaneous Permits and Licenses

This is a listing of Olmsted County Licenses linked to the ordinances that govern that particular license.

Please note: Applications must be completed and submitted with payment and any required information or attachments to Vital Records and Licensing.

Some licenses need to be submitted no later than 60 days prior to the event.

Auctioneer License

Minnesota Statute 330.01

Olmsted County, Minnesota, Resident Auctioneers:

  1. Complete the Auctioneer License application (form must be notarized if not applying in person), Certification of Compliance, and License Applicant information using the forms below.

  2. Submit forms in person or by mail with the required fee.
  3. A corporate surety bond is required for $1,000 and not more than $3000, designating Olmsted County on the line that reads "bound onto _______."

Out-of-State Auctioneers:

  1. Complete and submit the Auctioneer License application (form must be notarized if not applying in person), Certification of Compliance, and the Irrevocable Consent by Non-Resident Applicant using the forms below.

  2. Submit a certified copy of the applicant's current auctioneer's license from the home state.
  3. A copy of home state's auction laws or statute to establish reciprocity
  4. A surety bond is required for $1,000 and not more than $3000, designating Olmsted County on the line that reads "bound onto _______."

Special Events/Exhibitions

Minnesota Statute 375.40

Special events within Olmsted County require a permit. Applications must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the event. Learn more.

Fireworks Permit

Minnesota Statute 624.22

Anyone who engages in a fireworks display within Olmsted County is required to obtain a fireworks permit. Learn more.

Liquor Licenses

Minnesota Statute 340A.101

Anyone who engages in the sale of intoxicating liquor within Olmsted County is required to first obtain a license. Learn more.

Precious Metals

Minnesota Statute 325F.733

Any establishment dealing with the sale or commercial use of second-hand platinum, gold, and/or silver in Olmsted County must obtain a Precious Metal Dealer License. Learn more.
