On April 21, 2026, the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners approved action to correct an administrative error that resulted in approximately $1.5 million more 2026 property tax being levied than what was approved by the board of commissioners in December 2025. The error was discovered through internal processes in late March. 

Nearly one week after tornadoes struck Olmsted County on April 17, 2026, local agencies continue assessing damage and supporting residents affected by the severe weather.

On May 7, 2026, the community is invited to attend the Southeast Minnesota Community Mental Health and Wellness conference "Breaking Silence, Building Strength." The goal of the conference, hosted by the Southeast Minnesota Adult Mental Health Initiative, is to emphasize the collective effort to raise awareness around mental health, provide education, and reduce stigma.
