Gage Elementary Celebrates Winter Walk Day

Minnesota Winter Walk Day is February 1, 2023. Celebrated around the state, the idea is simple: go for a walk for at least 15 minutes, and don't let the cold scare you. Enjoy some sunshine and exercise in a winter wonderland.
Gage Elementary School will be participating in Winter Walk Day by celebrating the students who walk to school year-round as well as the crossing guards who keep them safe along the way.
It is a good reminder, especially to homes neighboring our local schools, that pedestrians need sidewalks clear to safely get to destinations. When sidewalks are clear and drivers maintain safe speeds, we have a safer community for people who walk. We are all pedestrians at some point in our journey, whether it is to get to work, school or from our car in a parking lot to our destination.
Groups of walkers composed of Gage Elementary students, parents and caregivers, and Rochester Public Schools staff will be making their way from The Gates Apartments (8:50 a.m.) and from Essex Apartments starting at 9:00 a.m. They will be encouraged along the way by Rochester firefighters and the Rochester Police Department. Media is welcome to join walkers along the route on 41st Street or at the entrance to Gage at 9:10 a.m.
Location: Gage Elementary School (1300 40th St NW, Rochester)
Time: 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. (8:50 at The Gates, 9:00 at Essex Apts, 9:10 at Gage Elementary)
Date: February 1, 2023. (In the event of a District Snow Day, the event will be postponed to Friday, February 3, 2023, at the same time and location.)
