Rochester-Olmsted Council of Governments seeks public input on regional transportation Safety Action Plan
Community engagement opportunities through August 24, 2025
The Rochester-Olmsted Council of Governments (ROCOG) is developing a new plan aimed at making roads in Olmsted County safer for everyone. The comprehensive Safety Action Plan (SAP) is part of the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All program.
Through the SAP, ROCOG will develop a coordinated, data-driven strategy to enhance roadway safety. This plan will help identify and implement cost-effective safety improvements for all roadway users, including drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
We want to hear from you!
Public input plays an important role in identifying transportation safety solutions. ROCOG invites community members to share transportation safety concerns and ideas this summer:
- Use the interactive comment map
Visit the ROCOG project website through August 24, 2025 to pinpoint locations where you have safety concerns while driving, walking, or biking.
- Attend a community event
ROCOG will be collecting input and talking with residents at the following local events this summer:- Byron Good Neighbor Days – Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Eyota Days – Saturday, July 19 from 2 to 4 p.m.
- Safe City Nights in Rochester – Tuesday, July 22, 2025 and Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m.
- Western Days in Chatfield – Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Gold Rush Days in Oronoco – Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The SAP will combine community input and data from crashes to develop cost-effective safety solutions and find potential funding sources for implementing improvements throughout Olmsted County.
ROCOG plans to complete the SAP by the end of 2025. The plan will be published at www.rocogmn.org.
