Recognizing Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week

July 17-23, 2022

  • Jul 15, 2022

Olmsted County is recognizing July 17-23, 2022, as Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week. PPPS Week is held the third full calendar week of July and celebrated by more than 100,000 community corrections professionals across the country.

This year’s PPPS Week theme is Restoring Trust, Creating Hope. Community corrections professionals remain an essential part of the criminal justice system and uphold the law with dignity. They partner with community agencies and groups to advocate for community and restorative justice.

Dodge-Fillmore-Olmsted (DFO) Community Corrections provides a wide range of client and community services impacting adult and juvenile clients. DFO employees develop and implement case plans that are individualized based on the client’s needs. Case plans may include office-based cognitive behavioral interventions, cognitive skills groups, employment assistance, and referrals to providers for mental health, chemical dependency treatment, and other services that may be needed. In some instances, supervision is required to help clients make changes to better themselves and lessen the likelihood of returning to the criminal justice system.

“Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week is an annual recognition dedicated to honoring the life-changing work community corrections agents and professionals do each day. The national theme this year is restoring trust and creating hope,” said DFO Community Corrections Director Nikki Niles. “Our DFO Community Corrections agents model this theme with each interaction and client they serve.”

Olmsted County Deputy Administrator Travis Gransee added, “The staff in DFO Community Corrections work to ensure proven best practices are implemented for those we serve. This team understands the role they play in the criminal justice system, which is to improve community safety through rehabilitation. Their innovative work is recognized across the state and nation, and we thank them for their ongoing commitment to our community.”
