County priorities fare well in 2020 state bonding bill
Olmsted County 2020 state legislative priorities are faring well with the passage of a statewide bonding bill during the fifth special session. Last week, the Minnesota House of Representatives and Senate passed the bill in bipartisan fashion and Governor Walz signed it this week.
Olmsted County received $6 million in the bill to move forward with the proposed interchange at county road 104 and trunk highway 14, which will greatly improve the safety of the intersection. This was one of four county-specific priorities for the 2020 legislative session. The support for this project from our local Senator and Capital Investment Committee Chairman Dave Senjem was instrumental to its success this year. Olmsted County also advocated for statewide bonding dollars for local transportation and housing programs, which were also included in the bill. We extend our sincere appreciation to our entire legislative delegation for their support of Olmsted County priorities and for working together to pass this crucial legislation.
