Nexus Family Healing selected as operations partner for the Southeast Regional Crisis Center

  • News
  • Aug 10, 2020

The Southeast Regional Crisis Center (SERCC) Executive Team – with representation from Olmsted and Goodhue counties, Mayo Clinic, Olmsted Medical Center, the southeast chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and local health care plans – recently cast a unanimous vote to select Nexus Family Healing as the operations partner for the Southeast Regional Crisis Center.

Nexus Family Healing has a long history of responding to the most severe mental and behavioral health needs of communities throughout Minnesota, allowing strong relationships with referring agencies, school systems, community partners, and others to innovatively meet the needs of the clients it serves.

Nexus Family Healing is nationally recognized as a progressive leader in youth and family healing and as experts in the field of behavioral health. Nexus Family Healing is accredited by the Council of Accreditation (COA) and Joint Commission (JC) – both independent accrediting organizations – which affirm that all facilities in the Nexus Family Healing network meet the highest standards of care, training, privacy, health, and safety.

In its proposal to be the SERCC operations partner, Nexus Family Healing presented a true partnership with regional partners to provide the right kind of care for individuals experiencing mental health crises. The selection team noted that was critical and illustrated that Nexus will operate the SERCC with the collaborative spirit regional partners see necessary to ensuring quality service.

Nexus Family Healing’s proposal also outlined an extensive history of providing services in diverse areas of mental health. They showed enthusiasm and a willingness to look creatively at serving communities across southeast Minnesota.

“We are excited at the prospect of working with our new operational partner, Nexus Family Healing, and greatly looking forward to the excellent care and services they will provide to the people of our region,” said Mayo Clinic Psychiatrist and Chair of the SERCC Executive Team Bruce Sutor, MD. “This is another important milestone in the innovative collaboration bringing Minnesota State Senator Dave Senjem’s vision of the Southeast Regional Crisis Center to life.”

“We are proud to be chosen for this critical community initiative,” said Nexus Family Healing Vice President of Strategy and Service Development Margaret Vimont. “The innovation and dedication the community partners have shown in getting to this point has been inspiring and impressive. We are pleased to contribute our commitment to provide effective mental health interventions when and where people need them most.”

Groundbreaking for the SERCC began in June 2020. Staff from Nexus Family Healing are expected to be onboarded in the winter and spring of 2020 and the SERCC is expected to open in the spring of 2021.

More information about the SERCC can be found under Mental Health services on this website.
