Olmsted County has received state grant funding to install solar panels at eight county facilities, including parks, the Public Works Service Center, and the Graham Park exhibition center. These projects support the county’s Climate Action Plan by reducing energy costs and advancing sustainability goals.

In response to the ongoing federal government shutdown and its anticipated impact on food assistance programs, the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners voted on October 21, 2025, to approve temporary local support for residents who may lose access to critical federal benefits in November.

After an extraordinary career spanning nearly 42 years, Pete Giesen, deputy county administrator for Olmsted County, will retire on December 23, 2025.

Olmsted County Public Health Services has confirmed a case of measles in an unvaccinated child residing in Olmsted County. The individual is under the age of five, exhibiting symptoms, and has a recent history of international travel.  

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, employees from Olmsted County Health, Housing, and Human Services will be attending a staff development event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 2100 and 2117 Government Campus buildings will be closed to visitors. Normal services will resume after 1 p.m. on the same day. 

Construction work at Lake Zumbro Park will begin on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as contractors start improvements to the parking lot and boat launch area. 

The 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) report, detailing Olmsted County’s health priorities, is now available to the public. The 2025 CHNA identified three priority issues that significantly impact health: mental health, access to care, and food security.
