If you would like to make a difference in your community, Olmsted County has several volunteer openings on the following advisory boards/commissions!
The Environmental Commission is responsible for formulating and recommending environmental policies to the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners.
The Human Rights Commission was formed in 1998 to promote equal opportunities in the community and respond proactively to diversity issues.
The Human Services Advisory Board is responsible for making recommendations to the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners on the policy of all social services for the county.
The Olmsted County Planning Advisory Commission provides advice and recommendations on issues related to land use, zoning, and land development.
With regard to enforcement of the zoning ordinance, the Olmsted County Zoning Board of Adjustment hears appeals and reviews dimensional variances and similar land use requests.
