Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson has announced his retirement, sharing that he will not seek a fourth term in the 2026 election. His current term will conclude in January 2027, marking the end of a distinguished law enforcement career spanning more than four decades.

The 2026 budget for Olmsted County and the Olmsted County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) combined totals $412,645,825. Of this total, $147,282,183 is funded with county and HRA property taxes of $141,713,639 and $5,568,544 respectively. The remaining $265,363,642 of our budget comes from federal, state, and other local revenues; charges for services; transportation taxes; bond proceeds; reserves; interest income; and other miscellaneous sources.
