Services: MSW, C & DWaste haulers must be licensed to operate in Olmsted County. If you currently hire a hauler to pick up and haul wastes from your property within the boundaries of Olmsted County and they are not listed above, please call 507 328-7070 immediately.
Garbage haulers in Olmsted County offer collection services with volume-based fees (meaning the more you throw away, the more you pay). You can reduce your waste and save resources by reusing and recycling. All haulers are required to offer recycling collection services to their customers.
All garbage haulers are also required to collect an Environmental Service Charge from their customers to help fund Olmsted County environmental education and waste abatement activities.

2. Self-Haul to the Recycling Center PlusThe following recyclable materials are accepted free of charge but must be pre-sorted:
- Aluminum cans
- Clear glass bottles and jars (no window glass, dishware, or ceramics)
- Colored glass bottles and jars: green, brown, and other colors (no window glass, dishware, or ceramics)
- Corrugated cardboard (clean only) - remove packaging materials
- White office paper
- Newspaper and colored paper
- Plastics #1 and #2 (with a neck), and clean plastic #5 dairy containers
- Tin/steel food cans, empty aerosol and paint cans
- Clean scrap iron, aluminum, copper, brass and stainless steel
Styrofoam is not accepted in the recycling area at the facility; it is garbage.
Items commonly accepted for a fee at the Recycling Center Plus include, but are not limited to:

- Brush/tree waste (incidental quantities)
- Carpeting
- Computer systems (recycled)
- Construction and demolition materials (residential quantities)
- Drywall
- Furniture
- Grills
- Lawn mowers (empty of fluids)
- Mattresses
- TVs (recycled)
- Tires*
* "Incidental" quantities of tires (8 or fewer per load) will be directed to the Olmsted County Recycling Center Plus for appropriate disposal. Larger quantities (9 or more per load) will be directed to the Kalmar Landfill; call 507 328-7070 in advance.
Large quantities of tires are subject to a special handling fee of $50.00 per 1,000 lbs. of tires, to offset extra processing (shredding and hauling). This is in addition to applicable disposal fees.
