Healthy Homes

To protect the public's health, Olmsted County's Environmental Health staff provide a range of services to residents. We work with:

  • Business owners to identify and resolve health risks in public facilities, including food service facilities (restaurants, cafeterias, special event food stands, and others), lodging facilities, public swimming pools, manufactured home parks, and campgrounds by licensing and assessing (inspecting) them. Plans for new facilities are reviewed before construction.
  • Members of the public through investigating reports of foodborne illness, responding to complaints about public facilities and public health nuisance conditions, consult on indoor air & vector-borne disease prevention including Lyme Disease, and coordinating clean-up of former methamphetamine labs.
  • We offer testing services for drinking water and radon.
